Seiko Prospex challenges every limit, with a collection of timepieces for sports lovers and adventure seekers whether in the water, in the sky or on land. Since launching Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko’s innovative technology has changed global standards. We are constantly striving to bring ever greater reliability and safety to both professional and recreational divers. The 1965 diver's watch incorporated an automatic mechanical calibre and delivered 150m water resistance. The watch was designed for maximum reliability and legibility in the harshest conditions. It proved its reliability when used in the Antarctic during the 60s and laid the path to the development of future landmark watches.
PROSPEX 1965 DIVER'S MODERN RE-INTERPRETATION SAVE THE OCEAN SPECIAL EDITION
1965 Diver's Watch Re-interpretation Save the Ocean Special Edition. Designed for those who treat life as the ultimate adventure, the Seiko Prospex line meets every challenge with technological excellence and style. Part of a rich legacy of innovation in high-intensity timekeeping, Prospex continues to celebrate a long history of sports watch excellence with re-creations and re-interpretations of landmark achievements. Updated with today's technology and materials, and a sleeker and thinner profile, this rugged timepiece re-imagines Seiko's 1965 first diver's watch, an automatic timepiece with a then exceptional water resistance of 150 meters. Offering an extraordinarily legible dial and durable enough to become standard equipment on the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), this landmark watch propelled Seiko into the forefront of dive watch design. Inspired by the intricacies of glacial formation, this Special Edition advances that unique history in support of the Seiko "Save the Ocean" campaign, dedicated to marine conservation. The patterned deep blue dial, that resembles the power and beauty of polar glaciers are captured perfectly in the intricately patterned dials. The rich heritage of the 1965 diver's watch is represented in the deep blue colour of the dial, offers a date calendar and LumiBrite hands and markers, and is framed by a black uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel. With a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, the 24-jewel automatic movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and provides manual winding capability. Crafted of stainless steel with super-hard coating, this superbly functional timepiece features a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, and a screw-down crown and case-back, and follows ISO standards for scuba diving to depths of up to 200 meters. 200m Water Resistant
