The year 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the Seiko diver’s watch. Since creating Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko has continuously advanced in diver’s watchmaking to meet the demands of professional divers worldwide.
Seiko’s first diver’s watch pursued reliability and safety, paving the way for many future innovations. In 1968, the company released a high-beat, 300m air-diving model, meeting the global standard for the time. In 1975, Seiko launched the world’s first 600m-water resistant model for saturation diving and used a robust titanium case, earning the trust of professional divers.
Since then, Seiko has continued to combine its unique technology and expertise to create numerous innovative diver’s watches that have been loved by adventurers and explorers, proving their reliability in harsh environments around the globe.
Based on historical models reflecting Seiko’s significant milestones, three new 60th-anniversary limited editions demonstrate how the Seiko diver’s watch has evolved in both functionality and design.
Dial expressing the scene of a rough sea
The wave mark is a symbol of Seiko diver’s watches and a testament to their high reliability and exceptional technology. It is engraved on the case back of all Seiko diver’s watches.
A dynamic embossed pattern inspired by this mark and reminiscent of the rough sea is applied to the dial, which changes its appearance depending on the viewing angle and evokes the waves of the deep sea.
Design based on heritage
The blue-dialed model reflects the design of the 1968 diver’s watch and is powered with the GMT Caliber 6R54. Its water resistance has increased to 300 meters compared to the 200-meter resistance of previous diver’s watches equipped with Caliber 6R54.
New clasp with improved functionality, comfort, and appearance
An updated clasp, which allows a 15mm adjustment range, can be easily extended or shortened in six 2.5mm increments by pressing side buttons. This ensures a comfortable fit, adapting to changes in wrist size caused by diving pressure or the weather.
